BIRMINGHAM — The NaphCare Charitable Foundation Inc. has announced a scholarship pledge, totaling $500,000 over the next five years, to be awarded selected graduating seniors from Valley High School. The first $200,000 has been funded. The NaphCare Charitable Foundation Inc. of Birmingham was established in the fall of 2011 as a legal entity organized for charitable, benevolent, education and philanthropic purposes. NaphCare Inc. operates in 25 states with more than 800 employees, and is headquartered in Birmingham. NaphCare has 23 years of experience providing quality healthcare services to the incarcerated population, including county, state and federal inmates. “This scholarship initiative was inspired by the VHS Class of ’61 whose members have been annually donating $20 each in order to assist VHS graduates attending college, “Chief Executive Officer James McLane said. VHS Class of ’61 members volunteered to handle the NaphCare Scholarship application and interview process. Ten winners were selected to receive awards of $10,000 each for college tuition.
