The NaphCare Charitable Foundation, Inc. of Birmingham has announced the 2012 Valley High School NaphCare Annual Scholarship winners. Ten seniors will be receiving a $10,000 award for college tuition along with new laptop computers to assist in their studies. The majority of these students will be attending Southern Union Community College’s Valley and Opelika campuses. “This scholarship initiative was inspired by the VHS Class of ’61 whose members have been annually donating $20 each in order to assist VHS graduates attending college,” Secretary and Executive Director Deanna Newton said. The NaphCare Charitable Foundation, Inc. of Birmingham was established in the fall of 2011 as a legal entity organized for charitable, benevolent, education and philanthropic purposes, and will be awarding an annual amount of $100,000 to Valley High School graduates for the next five years.
